Hello,So I have a Dell Inspiron 5558 Laptop that originally had Windows 8.1 on it; now we upgraded it to Windows 10. Anyways, I am having trouble trying to change the timer for my keyboard backlight to 'Never off'. Everywhere I look, someone says to 'Goto the Windows Mobility Center; and you can change it right there'. However, from the picture below, anyone can see that that is not the case for my computer. So is there another way?Basic Question: 'How do I change my keyboard backlight to 'Never off' besides using Windows Mobility Center'?Please and thank you.
Hit the spacebar to enter the keyboard backlight settings: hit the down arrow to select a default keyboard light timer. 15 seconds and 30 seconds are barely better than the default. So pick '1 minute' or '5 minutes' (what I picked, but my laptop is nearly always connected to a power source, very rarely running on battery). I purchased Acer E 15 because it was a good price point with a backlit keyboard. But the lights go out after 30 seconds. How can you keep them on longer.
I think you need the that adds extra features for customising your hardware settings.Dell Feature Enhancement Pack provides OS extensions and features for Dell business client platforms, including:. Support for hot keys and system events. Dell customized power plans and extensions.

Smart Settings. After installing this, you should be able to control your keyboard backlight settings in Windows Mobility under 'Dell customisation'. QuickSet is what Dell uses to make their hardware like brightness and volume keys talk with Windows.
Check out C:Program FilesDellQuickSet to see if you have a BacklitKB application, which is what actually configures the backlight. If you do, try opening that, and if it works then you should see a setting for the time out. Select 'Never Off' instead of '10sec'. I went to the Dell support site and looked up my laptop, and though it said I was all up to date, I decided to re-install the program. I selected 'Drivers & Downloads', and then 'Find it myself'.–Sep 20 '17 at 4:42.
